Estancia
The newest outdoor furniture designs from Richard Frinier Collection
for Century Leisure evoke the romantic imagery of
Argentina’s legendary haciendas.

High Point Furniture Market (October 2007)—Snow-capped mountains framing crystal clear lakes…the pampas’ sunny plains…country estates and working ranches set like rugged jewels in the dramatic terrain. Yes, Argentina is a land of great beauty. Here, historical main residences with memorable collections of artwork and picturesque landscapes may be found in many architectural styles including Criolle (Creole), Mansion, English Castle, Palladian Villa, French Chateaux and Spanish Palace.

Estancia, the newest addition to the Richard Frinier Collection for Century Leisure (www.centuryfurniture.com), embodies the romantic imagery of Argentina’s legendary domains. This stunning collection of outdoor furniture will debut at the Fall International Home Furnishings Market in High Point, North Carolina.

A contemporary interpretation of vintage Spanish Colonial period styling, Estancia is strikingly embellished with distressed and antique finished teak, hammered copper, faux leather and mosaic stone tabletops, real or faux leather fixed upholstery, and finished with fine furniture detailing such as decorative brass nailheads.

“This dramatic attention to detail originally intended for the most hospitable
domains is recaptured to allow the legend to live on,” says Frinier, a creative spirit of the casual furniture industry for the past two and a half decades.
“Its stunning materials and references to vintage Colonial-style architecture give the furniture timeless appeal, yet it’s also fresh and relevant.”

Here are a few highlights from Estancia:
• Hand- and machine-crafted teak frames made of wood harvested from a  renewable plantation forest.
• Superior craftsmanship in detailing includes distressed teak surfaces and decorative brass nailheads with stainless steel shanks that attach fixed upholstery, while authenticating and enhancing the overall design.
• Built and finished like quality indoor furniture, but designed and engineered to perform beautifully for full-time outdoor exposure with routine maintenance. Available in multiple antiqued colors with a marine-grade finish.
• Generously proportioned and scaled for the optimum resort-at-home or ultraluxe resort living experience.
• Upholstery may be specified as leather, faux leather, or indoor/outdoor performance fabrics. Faux leather options offer an embossed, leather grain textured and padded, weather-resistant vinyl textile. The Valtekz marine-grade composite fabrics shown here faithfully recreate the look and luster of natural hides and exotic skins. Crafted with a mildew-resistant backing and a nanoparticle topcoat for superior UV resistance, these fabrics are the standard bearer for luxury, quality and durability in outdoor materials. (See www.valtekz.com.)
• Century’s innovative Driluxe cushions on all seating are constructed of a waterrepellent cover surrounding a high-resiliency foam core and wrapped with 100% polyester fiber, which is compliant with CAL 117 flame retardant standards.
• A superior selection of Sunbrella® brand performance fabrics designed by Richard Frinier to complement all collections are woven from 100% solution-dyed, UV stable acrylic fibers that resist fading, deterioration and mildew. (See www.sunbrella.com.)
• Tabletop surfaces for Estancia include hammered copper with a protective coating, faux leather with an embossed, leather grain texture, or an artfully composed pattern of mosaic stone.

Like all of Century’s leisure collections, Estancia is as appropriate indoors as it is in today’s increasingly luxurious outdoor living spaces.

“Terraces, patios, gardens and other outdoor ‘rooms’ have grown more and more important to affluent homeowners,” says Edward M. Tashjian, Century’s Vice President of Marketing. “They want their furnishings
for these spaces to be indistinguishable in terms of quality from their indoor decor. With its rich materials and refined tailoring, Estancia truly conveys the resort-at-home experience that Century customers have come to expect.”
